Super Scientists in Year One!

Year One investigated which would be the best material for an umbrella for Ted. In Science we have been learning about Everyday Materials. We had four materials to test; Plastic, Metal Foil, Fabric and Paper towel.

We went outside and gave these materials a very good test! We observed and learnt that Plastic and Metal Foil were the best materials as they were waterproof.

Enjoy the photos! smiley

Thank you for supporting World Mental Health Day (10.10.19)
There is no homework for half term! 😊 Have a well earned break! Mrs Southon ☺
Looking forward to seeing you all back on Monday 28th October.  ☺
Science in Year 1.

We started our new topic in Science today.

Animals Including Humans.

We had fun in class naming the basic parts of the human body. I borrowed Sebastien to draw around and we took turns labelling his outline!  Enjoy the photos! Mrs Southon smiley

Making Poppies.  11.11.2019

Today Year 1 made some beautiful poppies. We used either tissue paper or red card to cover a template. We talked about the importance of Remembrance Day and had observed the 2 minutes silence at 11am with the rest of the school. You all worked really hard. Well done. Mrs Southon 😃

Our outdoor learning day.

Year one made bird feeders and had fun hanging them up. The birds will enjoy the tasty treats and it was great to spend more time out in the fresh air! Mrs Southon.  ðŸ˜€

We were very lucky today (25th November) as we had a visit from Zoo Lab.

The animals told us about Piglet the Guinea pig who had been bullying the other animals. They also told us how they resolved the situation.

We met a Giant African Land Snail called Fiona, a Madagascan Hissing Cockroach called Jane, a Curly Hair Tarantula called Fluffy, an Australian Green Tree Frog called Albus, a Corn Snake called Hocus Pocus and of course a Guinea Pig called Piglet!

Enjoy the photos! Mrs Southon. 😀

Thank you for all my lovely cards, gifts and the kind wishes you gave me today (26.11.19) It has been a privilege working with your children. I will really miss them. I will be in regular contact with Miss  Spooner to find out how they are doing. Best wishes Mrs Southon.
