Bromley Catholic Schools Trust

Holy Innocents’ is a single, stand-alone Academy that sits within the Bromley Catholic Schools Trust. The Bromley Catholic Schools Trust is an Umbrella Trust that has been established to promote and assist in the promotion of education in the London Borough of Bromley. The aims of the Trust are to promote the achievement of a high quality education for all pupils in all Catholic schools within the umbrella and to promote and develop the Catholic ethos.

There are currently six Bromley Catholic Schools in the Trust:

  • Holy Innocents’ Catholic Primary School
  • St. James’ RC Primary School
  • St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School
  • St. Peter and St. Paul’s Catholic Primary Academy
  • St. Philomena’s Catholic Primary School
  • St. Vincent’s Catholic Primary School

Each school is an equal partner within the Trust but one school acts as Chair for one year and this role is rotated on an annual basis. The school that is Vice Chair becomes the Chair the following year.

The Bromley Catholic Schools Trust was incorporated on 25th July 2014 to facilitate the conversion of the Catholic primary schools in the London Borough of Bromley to academy status. Its registered office is c/- Holy Innocents' Catholic Primary School, Mitchell Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9JT.

Aims: As specified in the Articles of Association, the Charity’s object is restricted to the promotion or assistance in the promotion of Catholic education in Bromley and its surrounding area, being education which is conducted in accordance with the principles, practices, tenets and teachings of the Catholic Church and all Catholic canon law and provides for religious worship in schools. In furtherance of this object the Directors will, in particular, but not exclusively, facilitate collaboration and cooperation between the Bromley Catholic Schools and with other schools with a particular emphasis on improving standards in the Bromley Catholic Schools so that they may better serve their communities and promote the common good.

 

Participants: Six schools are members of the Trust and, other than Holy Innocents' itself, these are the following: -

St James’ Roman Catholic Primary School, Petts Wood (company number 07976516);

St. Mary's Catholic Primary School (company number  09147871);

St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School, Mottingham (company number 08934887);

St Peter and St Paul’s Catholic Primary School, Orpington (company number 08938098);

 HOLY INNOCENTS’ CATHOLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL

 

Holy Innocents Catholic Primary School is an academy trust limited by guarantee registered in England (company number 9483921). Its registered office is at Mitchell Road, Orpington, Kent BR6 9JT

The school is a founder member of the Bromley Catholic Schools Umbrella Trust. (see above)

The school was incorporated on 11th March 2015 and opened as an academy on 1st April 2015.

The Chair of Governors is Dr Ian Wilson who was elected to this role at the Full Governing Body meeting of 10th October, 2016.

The Head Teacher is Mr Ryan Langford.

The Governing Body consists of the eight Foundation Governors appointed by the Archbishop of Southwark two Staff Governors appointed after election by members of the school’s staff, two Parents’ Governors appointed after election by parents of children at school and the Head Teacher, Mr Ryan Langford, as an ex officio member. All of these appointments are in accordance with the Articles of Association (articles 50 - 58). Please note that we use the terms "school" and "academy" interchangeably in context and they relate to the operation and activity of Holy Innocents’ Catholic Primary School. Also, the governors act as the trustees for the charitable activities of the school and as directors of the charitable company for the purposes of company law. Similarly, these terms are used interchangeably: "governor", "trustee" and "director".

REGISTER OF INTERESTS

It is central to good and effective governance of the school (academy trust) that those persons holding positions of responsibility and influence should act in an open and transparent manner and not be influenced by social or business relationships that may have, or be presumed to have, affected their conduct of office or business decisions.

The school's financial regulations stipulate that Governors and members of staff having a pecuniary, family or other personal interest in any contract involving the school, need to declare such interests to the school. The school is required to update the declaration of interests register.
