Prayers of the Church

Prayers of the Church

Sign of the Cross

+ In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen +

Hail Mary

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with Thee.

Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of Thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

(For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever)

The Angelus

This ancient prayer of the Catholic Church is traditionally said at 12 midday and 6pm. The prayer is a responsorial type prayer. One half of the class could say the first line and the second half of the class could respond. This can then be alternated on different days so the children learn all parts of the prayer.

  1. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

  2. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee……..

  1. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

  2. Be it done unto me according to thy word.

Hail Mary, full of Grace, the Lord is with thee…..

  1. And the Word was made Flesh. (bow your head)

  2. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee………

  1. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

  2. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ

Let us Pray.

Pour forth we beseech you, O Lord, your grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the Incarnation of Christ your Son, was made known by the message of an Angel, may by His passion and cross (+) be brought to the glory of His resurrection, through the same Christ our Lord. Amen

May the divine assistance remain always with us.

And may the souls of the faithful departed, (+)through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Hail, Holy Queen

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy,
Hail our Life, our Sweetness, and our Hope.
To Thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve.
To Thee do we send up our sighs mourning
and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate,
Thine Eyes of Mercy towards us,
and after this our exile show unto us the
Blessed Fruit of thy Womb, Jesus.
O Clement, O Loving, O Sweet Virgin Mary.
Pray for us O Holy Mother of God.

That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.
