WELCOME TO YEAR 3

Hello from myself and Mrs Maroto!

On a Monday the class teacher will be Mrs Cleary, who the children already know from Year 2, as that is my non working day. Please contact the office with messages about change in collections on that day. I work Tuesday to Friday, whilst Mrs Maroto is in class all week with the children and will be involved with intervention groups throughout the week as well as teaching Spanish to the class!

Early morning

Please try to encourage your child to come onto the Junior playground from 8.35 and wait with them until the bell rings and they line up at 8.45. Packed lunch boxes can be dropped off outside the school hall together on the trollies, but your child should walk into the classroom in their line after we have said our morning prayer by themselves. The register will be taken by 9am so any time after that they will be marked as late, also the school gates will be locked by 9am and you will need to go to the main entrance to drop off your child.

Snacks

Unlike KS1 snacks are not provided in KS2. Please ensure your child has a healthy snack such as fruit, crackers, veg, smoothies, snack bars and NOT crisps, sweets or biscuits. A

named water bottle is also needed each day to keep hydrated.

Homework

This will come to you in a wallet on a Friday to be returned by the Wednesday at the latest. Obviously if completed over the weekend hand it in on a Monday! Each week your child will be expected to learn spellings, work on a maths task and practice their hand writing. Sometimes homework will be set on Purplemash or MyMaths.

Please try to hear your child read at least 4 times a week for 15 minutes each session and return the reading diary signed and dated every morning. This well improve their confidence in reading and also help to gain reading stars at the end of each term.

PE

Our scheduled PE days are Tuesday afternoon with a PE coach and on Thursday afternoons taught by the class teacher. Please come in PE kit on those days, ensuring it has been labelled and the trainers are comfortable to wear.

If your child is involved in a sporting club after school they can also wear school PE kits on that day to come to school. However if they are Skills academy they will need to bring their football kit in a bag to change after school.

Contact

I am available on class Dojo for any concerns, queries or even to inform me if you are running late and I will respond as soon as I can. If you need to see me, also contact me on Dojo first and not in the class where we can arrange a session to meet. However please be aware, I also have a family and home commitments so have set quiet hours on Dojo after 6pm on weekdays and at the weekends so a reply will not be forthcoming immediately.

I look forward to an amazing year in KS2 getting to know your children and working together as a team.
